Rick's Beading Loom
I have been interested in bead looming but it intimidated me. I have bought several looms but never did get the nerve to try them. I was afraid I would warp them wrong. Then I was further intimidated because I didn't know what to do with all the warp threads that were left over.
I had read about the Rick's Loom and not having to weave in but 2 warp threads. This excited me. I saved up and finally ordered my Rick's Loom and waited for it to arrive. While I waited for the loom to arrive, I went to work designing some loom patterns to make on the loom.
Once it arrived, I watched the Youtube videos below to see how to warp the loom and how to work with it after it was warped.
During the next week, I worked on one of the loom designs that I had created. I found it wasn't as hard as I had thought it would be. Now, don't get me wrong, I did make some mistakes...but that was operator head space and not the loom itself.
I had a hard time with the first row until I came up with a way to do it that was easy for me...I did a few beads at a time to get the warps right. It may not be perfect for me but I won't have as hard a time as I did the first time. I also had a hard time with the last row. I had been told by several sources that I would. Again, I did it a few beads at a time. Other than that, it went really smoothly. Well, as smooth as it can be for a beginner. I did find threads where I had gone under the warp threads but that would happen on any loom. This is something that I will have to work on.
I would totally recommend this loom to anyone that wants to work on the loom. By the way, I found out that 99 rows of Delica seed beads equals 6.5 inches. I thought it was going to be 7 inches. Oh well, live and learn.
With this loom, there are only 2 warp threads that need to be woven back into the project. I think that is great. I learned a great way to weave in the ends from the Loomie Bin Facebook group. This saved me a lot of problems.
This video really helped me. I loved this video because the man who talked in them had as many problems as I did. I had the loom warped in minutes after watching the video.
I watched this one also to help me understand exactly what I needed to do once I got the loom warped. I loved this video
