Memories of Snow Ice Cream
First Memories of Snow Ice Cream
When we were young, my mother had the sole responsibility for our upkeep. She usually didn't have much extra to get store bought desserts so made them herself. My first memories of snow ice cream were when we lived in Ashland, IL. Mom had just gotten her divorce from my step-father. When the fresh snow had fallen, she sent me out to get a bowl full of snow. I had no idea what she was going to be doing with it. She made us some wonderful snow ice cream. I am pretty sure it was vanilla flavored. It was great. We looked forward to snow after that and hoped that my mom would create some more snow ice cream for us.

Never Had Snow Ice Cream?
You Are Really Missing Something
You have really missed out on a pleasurable experience if you have never eaten snow ice cream. It has a flavor all its own. As a child, it was the greatest thing I had ever eaten.
Live in an area where you don't get snow? I have a thought for you. Go to your local ice house and get some of what they call snow. This is even finer than the ice they make for snow cones. You might have to settle for the snow that they make snow cones with but it should taste as good.
I will be glad when I move back to Illinois where I can get snow every year and have my snow ice cream.

Chocolate Snow Ice Cream - Something for the Chocolate Lover
This could be done one of two ways.
The first way would be to use the Vanilla Snow Ice Cream recipe above but use Chocolate milk instead of regular milk.
The following recipe is another version of Chocolate Snow Ice Cream. I would call it more of a Chocolate Malt Snow Ice Cream since you add instant coffee.
